As the daughter of a dairy farmer and a registered dietitian, I have a unique background to my food identity. I’m grounded in conventional agriculture but I'm learning about organic farming.  I attend a non-agriculture based college with a primarily agriculture background.  I am working to wrap it all up into a Food Science degree with a focus on consumer education and communication.  I began college as an education major, but quickly learned that my passion lies in a different type of education.  My love for the dairy community initiated my switch to Food Science, but that has now evolved into a conscious goal of helping connect people to what they’re eating- from sprouts all the way to the supper table and the knowledge about the science in between. In addition, I aim to be resource that farmers can use to connect with consumers as well as with each other.  Educated consumers results in logical discussions and leads to efficient and profitable farming.  This makes for happy farmers and happy consumers.
